Some London games festival. DX

Friday, October 31st, 2008

Not that the anime convention (you know the one I mentioned in the last post.) was bad or anything, but there just weren’t many games there. D: It was quite disappointing in that respect, but I have high hopes for the game festival’s future, it is only 3 years old after all, it’s got a long way to go.

This year it consisted of a few different conventions including the MCM expo (that I went to) and the Euro gamer’s expo, the video games live concert of course, and a game careers festival too. And I reckon it can only get better in the future as it gets more exposure. I’ll definitely be sure to get more involved next year so I can bring you guys some interesting news.

In fact on that note, why not share with me ideas on what I could blog about? I want to make sure I’m actually delivering what people want to read so let me know. =3

I went to see video games live 2008! X3

Video games live 2008

Video games live 2008

Yeah so, remember how I mentioned I was going to see an orchestra play video game music in concert a few posts back? Well I went, and by golly it was awesome. =D They played some of the most awesome music from some of the the most awesome games, and though I must admit I didn’t know what half of them were, it really didn’t matter because the music was so powerful. X3 I greatly recommend anyone to go and see it, seriously, the videos of it on Youtube just don’t do the show justice.

Also, remember that guy on youtube who can play the Super Mario theme blind-folded? (I guess that only applies to those who’ve seen the video eh?) But anyhow that guy was at the show too. In fact he played a few piano pieces, mostly Final Fantasy stuff along with the famous blind folded Mario piece, which was awesome, but I digress. The guy’s a robot, I swear no one can move their fingers that fast. o_o It made me want to get a proper piano so I can start practising again.

And of course I can’t forget about the guitar hero contest. I didn’t participate, but I really wish I had after what the winner won: A DVD of, what was it? 5000 remixed video game tracks? What a prize! Though to be perfectly honest I doubt I’d have been able to beat the guy who won, he was pretty awesome, and my awesomeness has withered slightly recently. D: (Everybody: ‘awwww’)

I’ll be sure to be at the concert again next year, and hopefully they’ll bring out Volume 2 of the VGL album, but I need it darnit. DX But as for now, I’ll be going to the MCM Expo at the London Docklands on Sunday, which is part of the London games festival, so no doubt I’ll be bringing back some news from there too. Until then my chums. x3

I was blind to the awesomeness of the new kirby game!

Kirby super star ultra

Kirby super star ultra

Kirby Super Star Ultra has been out in America for a while now I think, but only today did I find out that it was a DS version of the SNES’s Kirby’s funpack (or Kirby’s superstar for non Europeans I believe) and that was a game that I absolutely adored. I now feel alost ashamed that I didn’t think to look into it’s release. D:

Anyway, this post is for all those gamers like me who didn’t get the memo. DX Now excuse me while I do everything in my power to get my hands on that game!
